I met Julie Andrews last year and asked her if she had any advice for young
Charlotte Church and she said, "When I was her age, I wanted to sing Puccini
but my teacher had the good sense not to let me. She seems to be singing the
right repertoire right now [this was before the 2nd CD came out] and I hope
she continues to get good advice."

It's one thing to sing the Jewel Song miked so you can be heard - it's
another thing to try to do it unamplified over full orchestra. It's
equivalent to Kathleen Battle singing "Depuis le jour" with piano on one of
her concert CDs - she can pull that off, but if she were to sing it the way
it was intended - w/full orchestra and no mike - no one would hear her or
she'd hurt herself.

you something else you do not know already, especially about yourself.
Conversely, pride and arrogance close the door of the mind."
