The problem of vocal changes around the time of menses is well known. The
cause can be variable: hormonal shifts, fluid retention, prostaglandins (the
chemicals that cause cramps), brain edema, fatigue, pain, and so on. It is
difficult to give an all-encompassing explanation.

The best thing is to work with a doctor familiar with singers' health
problems to work it out.
