Subject:  learning a role pointers

Are you singing the role English? If so - find the Metropolitan
Opera recording with Thelma Voltipka(sp?) as the mother;
make a cassette recording of parts you find important, listen &
memorize what she did. This method will probably be frowned
upon by many - but - if you're going to learn through osmosis -
you might as well learn from the best & Ms. Voltipka was
considered pretty much the comprimario's comprimario
for many a season at the Met.
