When a person joins egroups, they are required to fill
out a little form giving personal information such as
name, gender, date of birth, etc. Since I could see no
reason to give them any information other than my
e-mail address, I filled out phony info, including a
fake birthdate in 1999. I just received an e-mail from
them saying that my account has been suspended (I'm
sending this from another e-mail address) until my
parent or guardian faxes a consent form due to US
child protection regulations. Obviously their
programmer didn't think to set up their system to
check for obviously phony dates. And like any 10 year
old couldn't figure out how to send a fax! I am
thoroughly disgusted... I had to set up this special
email address (ihateegroups@y... - I think that
about sums up my opinion) and resubscribe.
I have sent them an e-mail saying they made a mistake,
but I'm not holding my breath. I really, really hope
the old vocalist comes back soon!
