Dre, I don't disagree, but I would say that the difference between the tenor and baritone head voice is a result of training. I believe the baritone head voice could have the same quality as the tenor sound you describe. It is just that most baritones and basses don't train their voices to include head voice in their normal tone. If they did they would have more ease and success in singing the top portion of their range, and there wouldn't be a lack of Verdi baritones. Someone might say then they wouldn't be baritones, but they would. They would just then be able to sing high notes in an exciting fashion like a good tenor can. Paul Plishka has said that when he was training the notes his teacher liked seemed like a tenor to him when he sang them. He is a bass. Another bass I think was like a tenor was Martti Talvela. He sang with focus in his head and had no problems with his top. But most baritones and basses think they can get by using just their low chest voice for the whole range. That's why they usually sound hollow or bellowing.
