there's nothing strange about being able to sing well below middle C; that simply places you in a "mezzo" kind of range. There are mezzo arias that go as high as a B natural, and go as far down as low B flat.
I sang tenor occasionally when I was in high school choir. However, the best thing for your voice is to sing in "head voice" because belting notes in choir is not healthy for your vocal chords. I can say this from personal experience. Plus, as a woman, I'm sure you sound much lovelier in your natural mezzo(or soprano)range.:)
Don't worry, that low stuff will come in handy, too.
