Subject:  Re: [vocalist-temporary] vocal problems

Hi Bryan,
I am 20 and had problems that sounded similar to
these last year and the year before. They could be
the same thing or it could be nothing, but I'll tell
you about my situation anyway. I am a baritone and
could only go up to an Eb and I was TRYING to focus
into my nasal area to go higher, but my voice just
wouldn't do it. Eventually, my voice developed more
and I became able to focus nasally and my range up top
improved greatly. In my case it was that I just
needed time and unstrenuous practice to develop those
skills. When I would force myself to go higher than I
really should have, I'd leave the practice room with a
sore throat and a crappy voice the next day. As I
said, in my case I just needed time, but I would still
see a voice medical professional and see if there are
any nodes, etc. on the vocal chords and maybe s/he
could give you some advice on how to not hurt
yourself. I hope this helped out some.

Best wishes,
Trevor
