I have to agree with Jennifer, and will also add that her friend who finds coloratura easy may find floated high pianissimos a REAL challenge instead! :). Some lighter flexible voices find sustained lines difficult, and vice versa. Some people also have a gift with languages and learn words fast. Others memorize within minutes. That's how life is I guess.... we're all so different. Challenging rep can be good and bad for the voice. Usually a little challenge is always a good thing, however, if undue tensions are caused by trying to sing too high, or too loud, or too fast (or whatever it be), then it is probably a sign to put the piece away for a while. Also, learning a challenging piece, putting it away and taking it out again in 3 months is also a neat thing... I have found that this is a great way to learn difficult music.
