Dear John LInk & Listers: Have heard this type of tone. Lived for many years in a NC city where there was a mezzo-soprano who had this. Same NC city where the hog (hawg!) farmer wrote all the performance reviews for the local newspaper! This singer could do NO wrong!! Discovered this vocalism in a church choir situation with an older soprano who simply couldn't cut it. "Mystery pitch" would describe it! This statement in no way reflects poorly on all older singers. I accompanied a 76 yr. old soprano student of Enrico Rosati who sang "Voi che sapete" from Marriage of Figaro and "Alleluia" from Exsultate, Jubilate (WITH flawless high c!!) very beautifully at that age! She loved to sing! I greatly enjoyed hearing about Rosati's pedagogy from another individual. Truly sounds like a heavy vibrato or wobble to me. Would prefer to hear the actual voice, but the demo could hint of a potential part-time income! Dress up like Dame Edna, trot out Victor Herbert's "Art Is Calling For Me" and I'll bet a new career will blossom! :) !!!!! Ed
