Some things I do-

Be positive. In stead of staying "Your French Stinks" try "Good start
with French." In stead of staying "You have too much tension"
try "Keep working on a free sound."

Be careful not to offend the current teacher. If you have a technical
idea, use the word "try" like "try modifying the /i/ vowel to /I/ on
the high note."

Make sure things that are your opinion is clearly identified as your
opinion. Instead of "That piece was too fast" try "I prefer a slower
tempo for that piece." Even if you KNOW you're right!

Be honest, but remain polite. If some student is singing a piece way
beyond him or her, you can say something like, "I think that piece
does not show you to best advantage."

Have fun!
