Deanna, I think the theraputic thing has to do with the increase in the student's self image/self esteem! It's almost a psychological paycheck to be paid to observe this over and over with each new student! Tone improves, range improves and about that time (if they're female) somehow Merle Norman usually does a makeover! A friend once overheard one of my students and immediatly presented me with a plaque which I own to this day that reads "You can't teach a PIG to sing! It only wastes your time and annoys the pig!". I do NOT have that plaque in my studio!! PS: I LOVE your name! I had a student once who idolized Deanna Durbin! She sang more like Bidu Sayao, tho, when I look back on it. Lovely lyric coloratura soprano. Had alot of fun with "Vilja" from "Merry Widow" as I recall.
