Dear Vocalisters,

Perhaps it is helpful to remember Handel's unfamiliarity with the
small details of setting texts to English.
He allotted two pitches to the word "Iron," but he might well have set it
to only one pitch. Had he done that, there would be no problem--as in
the word "fire" ("He is like a refiner's....") Since he specified two
notes for "Iron," perhaps the best solution is to carry over the main
vowel ("ah") from the first to the second note, adding the two final
consonants as a quick off-glide.
