Maybe you're just one of those barytenors with a very uneven voice, where lower and upper registers won't easily blend and still won't stand on their own for a long time, needing a little bit of each other's help: a great roller-coaster, a mediocre greyhound. Why then bury yourself in short-range choir parts best sounded by more common voices, instead of sparkling out your natural spectral variety as a soloist?
