A cork just sounds so incredibly ... rigid. I tried this last summer with
seedless grapes when they went on sale. They're just big enough to provide
space and giving enough to cause no discomfort; and then you can eat the grape
afterwards!!

And I only did this with people who tend to spread severely, namely woman who
would pull her mouth wide as soon as she got to C5 (and never could go past F5).
And I only did it when grapes were 89c/pound.

I put the cork in my mouth in the up and down position as opposed to
left and right. This way I can get the maximum mouth enlargement
that I can comfortably tolerate. I actually now have three corks
each of a slightly different length but I use the longest (just a
little more than the width of two of my fingers held together.

I hold the cork between the upper and lower teeth but over the past
several months I have varied where I place my teeth on the top and
bottom. At first I put my teeth about in the middle of the top and
bottom, but recently I am pushing the cork more inside my mouth so
that my upper and lower teeth are biting more towards the outside of
the cork. Sometimes I let the upper part of the cork actually come
inside my mouth and press on the hard palate (this gives my a choking
sensation sometimes and I have to stop) and sometimes I let the
bottom of the cork come more into my mouth and hold the top of the
cork so that it is more outside of my mouth. I'm still experimenting
with it to get the best results.

I frequently have to wipe the cork off from saliva and I wash it
every night.

I try not to bite into the cork too hard since it hurts my jaw and my
teeth. I make an effort to think that I am actually allowing the
cork to fall out of my mouth as I sing by stretching my jaw open a
smidgen more. I do this to avoid the tendency to clamp down on it.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Bob.
