Dear Lloyd and all,
> Please go into more detail about your being the "owner" of > Vocalist.org.
More detail and some history.....
I am the registered owner of the web site address www.vocalist.org I do not own the mailing list.
HISTORY: > Was the original Vocalister under the "org" title? Is > that how Marko created it in Finland? Does Marko no longer have any > rights to any form of the "Vocalist" title? The original Vocalist mailing list was started in September 12th, 1994 on lists.oulu.fi - run by Oulu University in Finland ( managed by Marko ). The website vocalist.org was started in, I think September 1997, to promote the mailing list, run by Marko and hosted by Oulu University Computer Services Center, Finland ( at that time the list was served by lists.oulu.fi and promoted from vocalist.org ). In July 1999, the mailing list moved from the Oulu University mailing list server to being served from vocalist.org In March 2000 the vocalist.org mailing list ceased working and many of the original members moved to vocalist-temporary. In August 2000, Marko posted a message on the vocalist.org website to apologise for the interruption to service of the mailing list and to say that he would soon explain what had happened. The months went by and by July of this year the website address had not been renewed. Marko had done a fantastic job, but he was no longer operating the mailing list and he relinquished ownership of the web address vocalist.org An opportunist in China saw that the web address was available and purchased it with no more intention than to hold it and sell at a vast profit. In the meantime he pointed www.vocalist.org to so called "Top Finds" including online casinos.
PRESENT: I registered www.vocalist.nu to provide a simple "portal" for the mailing list. vocalist.nu was not to run the mailing list, but to provide a website with information pointing to the list. I became increasingly annoyed that the well known previous home of the list was being held by someone who had no interest in the list. I contacted the Chinese owner and negotiated what I felt was a fair price. So, vocalist.nu is now redundant and I moved it's content to www.vocalist.org
> If Vocalist is now under your complete ownership, what can we as > listers expect from your ownership? Ect. Etc.
1. The mailing list stays as it is. I have no current intention of running the mailing list, although I am not saying that I would not potentially offer the service in the future ( free of charge ).
2. As I already explained, I have made available a partial pre-vocalist-temporary archive at www.vocalist.org, free of charge.
3. I own the website address and have final control over the website content, but I feel the Vocalist List has a historical right to use the vocalist.org web address as it's online identity. I therefore invite any requests for additions to the site - articles, sub-sections ( there used to be a separate Diction area ), links to Vocalisters'
sites, etc.
4. I am also confused by Dre's comments about "Allen".
