Kristin, One simple thing which never fails me is to have the singer hold her nose. If she pinches her nostrils together, she can feel a buzz against her fingers. Have her sing so that she doesn't feel the buzz in her fingers. To accomplish this she must create more space in the vocal tract and then stabilize it. Of course the nasal consonants will "buzz" but nothing else should. Try it yourself to see how it works. It's one of the best vocal short cuts I've found. It gives the student the opportunity to figure out what 's going on.
Cindy Donnell ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have a student who is the most persistent nasally singer I have ever worked with. I've tried everything I can think of to free her from this problem. SNIP So I'm wondering if anyone out there has some good suggestions. Perhaps you've had a student like this, or have struggled with nasally singing yourself. Kristina
