I agree with Mike on the need to care for one's body. I always say that a
healthy, beautiful voice can only come from a healthy body.

none of the following: alexander technique, feldenkrais, trager,
reiki, pilates, etc. are a substitute for vocal technique. there have been
so many examples of great singers who took horrible care of their bodies that
one has to assume that singing well is more like being a good card player or,
a good golfer. i have known so many singers who have turned to body work in
the desperate attempt to make their singing work when, what they really need
to do is to get rid of their religious devotion to a teacher who has failed
to teach them how to sing.

all things being equal, the singer who takes care of their body, will
probably find things easier than the same singer who does not.
