Why not go with a singer with an international reputation as an outstanding
Schubert interpreter? Hard to go wrong with someone like Elly Ameling or
Janet Baker. Others to consider might include Elizabeth Schwartzkopf, or
Barbara Bonney. I' sure that there are also many other's I haven't mentioned.
I'd highly recommend my favorite German soprano, Elizabeth Grummer, but she
tragically did not leave a large recorded legacy and I'm not sure whether it
includes the Schubert Ave Maria.
