I remember a few months ago Karen asked about female tenors (not just
women singing in chest). It occurred to me yesterday I was listening
to one of Cher's newer songs, and I didn't realize it was a woman
until I heard the credits on the radio.
She's got a low voice, but the quality of it when belted has a slim,
tenor-ish quality rather than the richer, warmer quality of a
contralto (a la the lady from Yaz).
