Mandy Patinkin has chosen to sing almost entirely in falsetto. I heard
him in a wonderful concert he gave in Baltimore a few years ago, and there
was a moment when he "lapsed" into his TRUE voice, which is a remarkably
rich, attractive baritone. How I WISH he would actually sing ALL of his
material using his true voice. The wispy falsetto, expressive or not, gets
on my nerves after a while. Frankly, if I want to hear a non-classical
falsettist, I'd rather listen to Jimmy Sommerville.
