Dear Cyndee,

I would recommend the University of North Texas in Denton. I am
currently finishing a DMA in Voice and Voice Science at LSU in Baton
Rouge. I studied with Steve Austin for two years at LSU before he
got a new post at UNT. He runs the pedagogy/science offerings at UNT.

Richard Miller is certainly a brilliant pedagogue. However, we
should keep in mind the fact that Miller is a voice teacher, not a
voice scientist. His summer programs very informative for those who
want a "once-over-lightly" view of voice science. I attended one
in '98.

If "hard-core" science/pedagogy is what you're after...contact Steve.
You might also check out the Summer Vocology Institue program... at
ncvs.org. In addition, U. Iowa offers a Ph.D in Voice Science...but
the program is extremely rigorous and does not have a singing
component.

Good Luck!
