"TAke away my pain": a beautiful ballad by Dream Theater. Made by the guitar player for his then recently deceased father.
Also, "Oklahoma", performed by Billy Gillman, about a kid going to Oklahoma to live with his real father.
I'm also sure there are many gospel and Catholic hymns and songs talking about a "father". Although the "father" meant is spelled with a capital F, they'll "make sense", as what was done for "Sister Act".
Although YOU said "any suggestions would be great", I dare to mention but not to recommend: "Papa don't preach", by Madonna.
Best wishes,

I'm looking for songs that would be suitable to dedicate to my father, (who is deceased) to do in my recital, all i can think of is papa, can you hear me, and watch me fly.(both from yentl). Any suggestions would be great. All songs, too, musical theatre, and opera, standards, jazz, any.
