Karen,

very, very well said- as usual! How right you are. I
myself had such an experience this past winter. I sang
the aria I could sing in my sleep, a Mozart STANDARD,
and this supposedly "experienced" coach/accompanist
had never before seen it or played it in his life. It
showed. He took off like a bat out of hell, and I was
blamed for the entire thing. I,too, learned that the
best way to nail an audition is to be in control of as
much as you can- and from now on I am most CERTAINLY
bringing my own accompanist when I can. Thanks for
sharing your thoughts, it made me put my awful
audition experience/ rejection experience into
perspective.
