Subject:  Easy Bass Repetoire

I intend to take voice lessons at my University next semester,
but I need to audition first. And for my audition I need to
have a piece of solo literature to sing with music and not a cappella.
Now having never really taken voice lessons, I don't know any
solo songs. I've been doing choral singing for years, though.
Also, I haven't a clue where to find songs, and if I do find them,
then must be in English and rather easy, or I'll probably butcher it.
I can't really sing effectively above middle C and I can't make a
note carry without using strohbass below a low C# or D.

Any suggestions for places where I can find songs?
I mean, i've seen some of those 'First Book of Baritone/Bass' solo
books, but not in a while, and nothing seemed particularly appealing.

Any hints would be welcome.
Thanks,
Kyle
