Both. They are ancient words ("chèggio" is correct too). All three
are first person of simple present of "chiedere", and the actual word
is "chiedo".
About the translation, I think it's better a simple "I ask". And I
don't see any reason to put a question mark. Perhaps it would be
better to see the general matter of that sentence.
