As part of vocal training I teach sight reading with involved music theory on
the hoof. They get all the teachings without realizing they are being taught
music theory (boring subject for kids). Down the line I hear, "Why do you
want me to sing this note quickly? It's a dotted quarter," or some comment
like that. They learned theory but I doubt they'll ever know when they did.
Of course I am a sneaky teacher.
