Dear Liz
As a former manager and coach/consultant i say the opera group sounds 'small
time" ... he couldn't even get the rehearsal schedule to you. You had prior
commitments.. the musical seems to be important enough to you to not consider
cancelling immediately.. so i SAY LET ONE MARCELLINA HAVE THE OPERA.. and you
enjoy your musical gig.. You certainly could call and just say .. without
a schedule of rehearsals and your prior commitment you had no idea of his
rehearsal schedule. And you sound like a good musician.. tell him you could
have the opera up and ready next week.. after the other show opens.. and that
you looked forward to the production. NO MATTER WHAT .. you will have
presented yourself as a professional. (he is not).

all best wishes..
