Mike ..Pop singers have always got embarrassingly intimate
with their microphones while singing more softly on those NOT
particularly high notes. You should stop mentioning their names
in the same sentence as the REAL singers. :)

Blast shields were invented for pop singers not classical singers.
Any singer worth his salt will not allow his cords to flutter about
unsupported as falsettists do, this is why some cannot sing
falsetto. As Gedda says, and I humbly agree, he has found no
use for this unsupported tone.
