I don’t think I mean more airflow up top, although I don’t know what you mean exactly by “up top”. I talk to students about feeling pressure low…… , and around the bottom and the back of the rib cage. (upper and lower intercostals muscles) I’m not properly articulate in vocal pedagogy, but when I ask students relax their lower abdominal muscles to allow the diaphragm to descend and then feel a sensation of a flex low and around the rib cage (after the expansion)when engaging in singing, then most appear and sound like they are relaxing the extrinsic laryngeal muscles, at least the bread baker student who wanted to sing rock and roll did and his sound was much clearer and tension free.
