Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz, in this Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Dorothy’s adventures in the Land of Oz have been set to a modern urban contemporary sound, with a lively mixture of soul, gospel, jazz, and hip-hop, a colorful eye-popping visual spectacle, and dialogue that brings this fairy tale down to earth for modern audiences. Audiences tap their toes, snap their fingers, and hum along with such favorite songs as "Ease on Down the Road," "Don’t Nobody Bring Me No Bad News," "If You Believe," and “Home.” Also featuring high-energy dance numbers which include the sexy Poppy girls, African-dancing flying monkeys, a special Michael Jackson tribute with “Wiz” showstopper “You Can’t Win”and a tornado ballet that has to be seen to believe! The show will tour major cities in a national tour in the spring. Conceived by the late Broadway producer Ken Harper. The Wiz was the 1975 Broadway season hit, the book was written by William F. Brown with music by Charlie Smalls. R & B legend Stephanie Mills starred in the original Broadway production, Diana Ross and Michael Jackson starred in the 1978 Motown film version. This classic Wizard of Oz will come to life through an All-Star Cast of Broadway performers starring the best vocalists and dancers from New York City, including 18 year old gospel extraordinaire Tiffany Pickney as Dorothy. Tiffany possesses a beautiful yet powerful soprano voice that must be heard to believe. She makes every solo her own and erases memories of the originals. Come see Dorothy, the Lion, Scarecrow, and the Tinman as they "ease on down the road" to Oz. This event is not to be missed!
