I picked this up from Paul Kiesgen at IU. Have your students pick up two
books, one in each hand and hold them in front of each ear. Then have them
sing. Their eyes will widen at the very different sensation of not being
able to hear themselves and they invariably sing with more focus and presence
in the sound.
