In my area, in the central valley of California, it's about comparable to Lea Ann's area in Eastern Kansas. Having relocated from the very wealthy SF Bay Area, the differential took much getting used to. However, everything is relative to the economic realities of the communities in which we live. No doubt, if I lived even 50 miles further north and west of here, my prices could increase by at least a third or more! But not here. As others have said--ask around; call local music stores to see what their teachers are charging and what their backgrounds are. --Erica
