In Newfoundland (on Canada's east coast) there is a form of dance music
called chin music. It's usually performed by a soloist when there are no
guitars or accordions (the traditional instruments) available. Think of
Irish and Scottish dances and reels with scat syllables and you'll have
an idea. It's quite a remarkable experience seeing a performance of chin
music. Perhaps Bobby McFerrin got some of his inspiration here ;-) .
