while i probably agree with your view on the cultural aspects of
'afropop', i couldn't care any less. i'm interested in the music, the sound
of the music, that is as, i never really can tell what any of them are
singing about. and even if the material they have developed is not the
result of a natural evolution to their traditional music and is, instead, a
clever lure to snare the dollar of listening tourists, the music remains the
same regardless of the intention. whether it is a trophy hunter killing a
deer for the rack or, a native american killing the deer for food, asking the
soul of 'his brother the deer' for forgivness, the deer is just as dead in
both cases.
