Hopefully she will take classical music more seriously. She should go on a 6 year break and study with one of the finest classical voice teachers available. ----- Original Message ----- From: lolipastor@a... My parents play in the Houston Symphony and this past summer Charlotte Church was the "main attraction" at a pops concert of theirs. They said the entire experience was unpleasant and actually rather depressing. Charlotte was to sing The Jewel Song, but when she got up in front of the orchestra (complete with a very powerful microphone...) and they started playing, she didn't start to sing. The conductor stopped and looked at her, and her mother started yelling in the audience, "CHARLOTTE!!! Sing the song, Charlotte!" Her reply, "But Mummy, I don't WANT to sing the Jewel Song!!" Mummy's reply, "Charlotte, darling, you HAVE to. Now just sing." "But Mummy, I just CAN'T today." This went on for awhile, and I believe she ended up singing it... and rather poorly. I think more than anything, I feel sorry for the girl. She's missing really important years in social and educational development, and when (and IF) she does start to pursue music for real (I know, I'm so mean) she's going to be WAY behind her peers, I'm afraid. Talk about bad habits being ingrained into one's singing!!!
I just hope that she has a deep, insatiable love for gardening.
