i came across a great site http://www.afropop.org the other day.
they have an archive of radio programs with commentary introducing a variety
of talent from various regions of africa. (you'll need realplayer to listen
to the archives. they include a link for the download.)
one comment that i found interesting, while listening to the program
on madagascar, was that afropop is really an evolution of traditional african
music rather than being a seperate pop music.
