Subject:  "Discover Your Authentic Voice" workshop

On Saturday, January 19th (tomorrow!), from 2:00 until 4:00, I will
be presenting a workshop entitled "Discover Your Authentic Voice".

Discover Your Authentic Voice
Do you wish that you had a beautiful voice?
Well, guess what? You do! Each of us was born
with a powerful, expressive voice. In this workshop
you'll rediscover the beauty of your natural voice,
how to speak without straining, and how to use your
voice for long periods of time without fatigue.

The workshop will use materials from three sources:

1) Awareness Through Movement lessons chosen for their effectiveness
in promoting the effective use of the voice.

2) Practices drawn from and based on the work of Carl Stough ("Dr.
Breath"), including counting and humming in order to extend the
length of the exhalation.

3) Vocalization lessons that I have developed over the last five
years while rehearsing my vocal quintet and teaching my singing
students.

Although geared to non-singers, the workshop will be valuable to
singers as well.

From 10:30 until 12:30 on the same day Sam Nelson will also be
presenting a workshop entitled "Singing With The Whole Body".

Singing With The Whole Body
In this workshop, you'll discover that singing is a whole-self
activity. Drawing from my new book, Singing With The Whole Body,
co-authored with Betsy Blades-Zeller, we'll introduce modularized
Awareness Through Movement lessons and dispel common myths and
misperceptions of voice training.

Both workshops are open to the public and are part of the New York
Regional Conference of the Feldenkrais Guild taking place at the
Friends Meeting House at 15 Rutherford Place (just south of 16th
Street between 3rd and 2nd Avenues) in Manhattan.

The cost of attending either workshop is $25 (includes lunch from
12:45 until 1:45). You may attend both workshops for $45.

A party will follow the second workshop and will feature
entertainment by the John Link Vocal Quintet. For further information
call (212)463-7102.
