Subject:  Re: [vocalist-temporary] tone deaf student

Does anyone have any suggestions for helping a "tone deaf" student. The
young lady in question has speach problems due to brain damage in an
accident and she deperately wants to sing. Unfortunately, she really
struggles to match pitch. I thought about using the Kodaly principles
with her, starting with yoo-hoo--so-mi and some simple children's songs
but I also don't want to insult her. Any suggestions would be gratefully
considered. I've tried using a long tube from her mouth to her ear. Has
any one had results with this? Anne Cronvich
