I am a vocal/piano/community college choral instructor who wants to performed more as a soloist. I solo often with my community choir and church, I have played one role in a small community opera group, and have done solo work for my previous voice instructor, but that's about it (since college 15 years ago). I have been involved in a lot of community theater, but only as an accompanist or music director/conductor. My voice is now in it's best shape ever and I am looking for an opportunity to show it off. I would audition for shows, but I can't handle the rehearsal schedules (I have a small child at home). I thought of putting on a "show" for friends and family in a cabaret style with wine and appetizers, but I don't think I could pull that off by myself. Any suggestions for getting my voice "out there"?
