For those who might not keep track of what's on TV, there's a one-hour documentary on PBS at 10 p.m. EST Thursday 20 December, about Anthony and Sally Amato and the opera company and shadowbox opera house that grew out of their shared passion for the art - The Amato Opera, which has had its home in Greenwich Village in New York since 1948 (my mother remembers going to operas there when she was a _jeune Villageoise_ in black tight in the late '50s), and which has been the first real opera performance venue for a number of International-class singers...including Neil Shicoff, who sang his first Don Jose there. :)
