Hi Laura,
My voice used to be back and covered. I was not asked to sing a solo on one
of the songs that we do cause of the color of my voice. I wasn't even thought
of and when I questioned it, that is what I was told, that it was too dark
and I could make it brighter if I wanted to. I insisted that that was MY
voice just like you said curly as opposed to straight hair, but he disagrees
with me. So..............we had a big disagreement. I was always under the
impression that the color was part of the vocal makeup.
I never did like my voice, but lately I am finding it more pleasing. So yes I
guess I am happy with the way it is coming along.
And the person that made the comment is the piano player, but he has alot of
pull with the team.
I tried belting and just hurt my throat. So tomorrow I was hoping to go in
with some information that would back up what I told him.
He also told me I sounded too classical. There is not one person there that
has studied voice, (except me for 6 years)
