I'm afraid you've got these facts rather confused.
ASPECTS OF LOVE was a novel by David Garnett, a rather second-rate Bloomsbury hanger-on in the 1910s and '20s. Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote the musical ASPECTS OF LOVE based on this novel.
Stephen Sondheim's PASSION was based on the Italian film PASSIONE D'AMORE, directed by Ettore Scola. Neither the musical, nor the film, had anything to do with David Garnett's book. The stories aren't even remotely similar.
