Laura,
Improvement is always possible to anyone interested in improving and
willing to do the work (which may include learning what work NOT to
do). It does not sound like it would require a miracle to increase
your range by the notes in question, especially given that they were
once part of your range. Don't pay attention to anyone who tells you
otherwise. Go for it!
