Yes, we have false folds, they're called the ventricular folds and they are
of great importance when swallowing; they help seal off the laryngeal
vestibule.

One of the biggest misassignments of their role I've ever heard is that they
are used in the production of falsetto which is just physiologically
impossible since they lack the cover/body construction to produce a form of
phonation such as falsetto.
