???????? I don't understand why it's now or never. As many of us have been
saying over the past few days, it's possible to start a career in your
thirties or later. It may be more difficult, but it's still possible. I
confess, that as a thirty-something just starting my career in singing, I
get frustrated seeing the all the opportunities open to younger singers that
are no longer open to me, but I make my own. And at 25, the young singer
mentioned above is eligible for almost every competition, young artist
program, etc. there is. Sometimes it takes a while to get a career going
(and I'm not just talking about singing - how many people start out as vice
presidents vs. working in the mail room?) and you gotta be patient. In the
meantime, there are all sorts of options for earning money, some of which
may not be fun but as long as you keep reminding yourself it's temporary...

One option would be for her to market herself as available for wedding gigs.
It's not the Met, but it pays the bills.
