this one is closer. if his lean body mass is greater than yours, on
that factor, he uses more. if he weighs more, moving that weight requires
either more energy or, a more ergonomically efficient means of locomotion (as
opposed to loco motion). considering all the factors performing the same
task, it is hard to say.

there is a difference between someone using a higher amount of energy
and someone using a higher percentage of their energy. if person A uses 100
units of energy but, has 1000 units total, person A will be less tired than
person B if person B only uses 50 units of energy but has only 55 units of
energy to start with.

so, if ms. eaglen uses a higher percentage of her energy singing
isolde than a runner uses running a marathon, that's not impressive, that's
pathetic. however, following your analogy to michael jordan, if ms. eaglen
ran a marathon and kept up with one of the runners running a better time than
'tristan und isolde', i would be impressed and wouldn't care if she claimed
she used more energy (unless the whole race was downhill).
