I thought I'd add my $0.02 about college majors! Realistically, unless your
daughter has something else picked out that she's in love with, she may as well
do a music degree. Why not be allowed four years of something you love? My
suggestion would be to make sure she attends a college that is a college or
university, versus a conservatory. This way, she will be prepared for both the
music world and the corporate one.

My own decision regarding singing is that working at a day job totally sucks me
dry--energy wise and soul-wise. So, I've gone on through one grad degree, and
will start my doctorate in the fall, so that I can teach at the university
level--This way, I can always perform on the side, AND be around other people
who love music! It's going well so far... <grin> I can't wait to quit my day
job and spend my time practicing and studying for entrance exams!

Hope this helps,
Christine Amos
