I hear Streisand and I hear a good solid mix. I define "all chest" as Karen
Carpenter (at least my memories of Karen Carpenter). Natalie Cole -- not a
fan, so I really haven't analyzed her voice.

Interestingly enough, the new cantor at my temple job had a very
Streisand-esque kind of voice. She has little access to her top at this
time, although she will be studying with a friend of mine, so I'm curious to
hear her next year at this time. I've heard people say that there is a
uniquely African-American sound; I'm wondering if this is a uniquely Jewish
sound? If so, oh, if only I'd been born Jewish!!! :)
