Hi there, I'm considering producing a concert of scenes and arias with a Halloween theme. I'll have access to the whole gamut of voices (soprano, mezzo, tenor, bass, bari) and would like some suggestions of pieces/scenes that might be appropriate. So far I'm thinking of the following:
*The Three Witches opening scene in Macbeth *the card scene from Carmen *maybe a solo or ensemble piece from Tales of Hoffmann (maybe this is a stretch, but I've always thought this opera was very much like a costume ball with at least a couple of creepy stories in it - namely, when Antonia mother appears and ultimately Antonia dies) - suggestions would be welcome since we just did the Antonia/Mother scene yesterday in another concert.
After those, I kind of draw a blank though. I'm sure there must be appropriate scenes and arias from any of the operas with Faust in them, and probably appropriate items from the Ring Cycle.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
