I don't know about "glass ceiling". However, I heard/saw Mr. Mobbs sing
Papageno at The
Washington Opera (TWO) the season before last, and I enjoyed his singing and
was even more
impressed by his stage presence. However, compared to singers I've heard
perform simlar
repertoire at TWO and the Met, his voice seems to be not as large. So perhaps
the
different needs of a companies like NYCO and the Met have something to do with
who works
where? Especially now that NYCO is using electronic enhancement? (bah,
humbug!)
